Blog #1, Spring 2025

This week was not as productive as I hoped, I had some other activities that took a lot of my time. I did however finish pinching some pieces I had done after Christmas and got those fired. They ended up coming out insanely light which I think has something to do with the new clay I am working with. It is a cone 10 light bodied clay made for soda firing because I am hoping to do a couple more of those this semester. Tuesday class we went over the syllabus and started discussing semester plans so most of class was spent on that. Thursday during class, I started and finished a new pot. I am not sure I am loving it though, it feels rather forced and does not feel the same as the big pots I did last semester. This feeling has been something I want to continue to experiment with this semester. I think there is something about labeling humans as vessels and calling pots the same thing that builds a greater connection between self and the art, this is why I prefer that taller shape.
