Blog #16, Fall 2024
Last week of the semester! Well besides crit next week. Sunday I spent the day making fun things with Mia, we made a bunch of coasters, cups, and trimmed some other things I had done previously. This was a really nice and refreshing day in the studio, it was nice to make work that was less serious and isn’t needed for anything in particular. Monday we finally got to unload the wood kiln, woohoo! As much as I enjoyed the process, I had mixed feelings about the results of my work. I definitely want to sit with it longer this week. Tuesday I worked on more christmas gifts and threw a bunch of mug bodies. Wednesday was a clean up day in the studio and I made clay in the snow! Molly and I loaded a bisque at the end of class. Thursday I took a day off from the studio and that night we went to Sarah’s dinner party which was so fun to have dinner with everyone and see and use her work. Friday I went into the studio having a lot of anxiety and ended up making another small form that I want to test in oxidation. Saturday I took a bunch of pictures of this semester’s work to update my portfolio and finished glazing my remaining Christmas gifts. Looking forward to crit next week! Still lots to get done here in the final weeks of the year.
