Blog #6, Spring 2025
Monday, I didn’t have any work or anything so I used that time as my big studio day. I continue working on the four part vessel that I had started previously starting and finishing two more sections of it on that Monday. I am happy with my progress in construction of said pieces, I haven’t previously done a ton of this time of work and nothing remotely close to this scale. I’ve done this stacking work with lids of teapots here or there but nothing quite like this so I am pleased so far with how things have come along. Tuesday, I had work before and after class so it felt pretty rushed. I did end up getting the wadding and glazing done for some work that I was going to put in Jooby’s soda kiln. Wednesday, I didn’t get into the studio. Thursday, we had the visiting artist come for a demo and artist talk. I thought their talk was great, it was incredible just the sheer size of their facility and the amount of work they are able to accomplish in a minimal amount of time. I am excited to finish up my pieces and get them submitted to the show they host coming up. I would love to be able to have my pieces in the show but also to just be able to see the facility space for myself. After the lecture on Thursday, I finished up the final segment of the four part piece. I didn’t get into the studio the rest of the weekend, but I did get to go see Faye Webster with Emma and Sarah and wow that was amazing!
