Blog #4, Spring 2025
Monday, I started another new stacking piece, specifically I started and finished the base of this new piece. I also went outside and worked on finding natural things to press clay into to get a strong texture; I used tree bark, etc. to try to get a good texture to hopefully use in the shards down the road. Wednesday I had my chef job so that took up my day so I didn’t get any work done. Thursday, I came in and loaded up a bisque of the last stackable piece I made to get that in and out to see how my construction withholds being fired. Then I started on the top portion of the new stackable piece. I am hoping that I can make this new piece like four separate segments to really push my boundaries and see how much height I can get. Friday I had my chef job again, so that consumed my Friday. Saturday, Emma, Ryan, Mia, and I went to Kore Gallery and to Sarah and Molly’s show opening. I had never been or heard of Kore Gallery. Ryan just mentioned meeting friends there and invited us to go with but it was a really impressive space and something I would like to maybe look into in the future. I am not sure how getting in there works, they mentioned membership but I am hoping to maybe submit some of my pieces for the rotating show they have there. It was also really cool to see Sarah and Molly’s show in that new space; they did an incredible job laying out the space and I think the show was very successful. I am also hoping to get my pieces into more shows this spring so seeing theirs has given me some ideas for the future. Sunday, we watched the Superbowl and had food to cap off a great week!
