Pot I cut in half that ended up failing
A new pot I made as redemption to breaking the other one
Rainy end to the week here! Felt like it was a productive one. Got two more big pots done… spoiler alert I cut one in half trying something and it did not go so well oops! So I guess only one other big one was done, but I learned quite a bit when/after cutting the one. I made some flashing slip to test on some wares for future atmospheric firings, and was thinking about putting some in the raku coming up just to see. I have one pot bisqued and glazed (awaiting results nervously). Hoping it turns out decent so I can get something submitted for NCECA.
On another note we had a visiting artist at the studio this week! Got to see some amazing demos and learn about his work. Also got to help install his show in the Barr Gallery which was a really neat experience. Learned a whole lot about how to install things that weren’t just ceramic as well as get to know Jesse and his work better. Feeling really grateful to be back in a studio that actively searches artists to bring new knowledge into the studio. Overall a pretty good week.
